Reference to your letters of the 29th July 1904, No: 25753/1904 and 24th October 1904, No: 35085/1904, relative to the transfer to the Admiralty of certain Land at Long Harbour, Mirs Bay, by the Colonial Government of Hong Kong; I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, that they regret that the suggested amendments in the Memorandum of Transfer proposed in paragraphs 4 and 5 of Admiralty letter of the 21st July 1904, D.W. 9834/7284 cannot be agreed to.

2. My Lords are glad however to learn that the Colonial Government accept the proposals made in paragraphs 6 and 7 of Admiralty letter above quoted, and I am to ask that the Memorandum of Transfer may be amended accordingly: the Memorandum, or a copy thereof, (with Plan) when so amended being forwarded for Admiralty record.

3. In his letter of the 20th May 1904, (copy enclosed with your letter of the 27th June 1904, No: 21828/1904), the Officer Administering the Government states that compensation (#391-35) for the private property on the Peninsula has been paid by the Colonial Government and the property resumed; also that the Naval Authorities are taking steps to repay the sum mentioned to the Colonial Government.

4. It is not clear however to My Lords why repayment of this amount is to be made; when the question
